Horror Makes Us Happy!

Joshua Lastine

Joshua Lastine is a Hollywood entertainment attorney, founder of Lastine Entertainment Law, and lifelong horror fan who works at the intersection of genre filmmaking and creative rights. A former in-house attorney at Lionsgate and ViacomCBS, Joshua has negotiated and advised on projects ranging from major Netflix productions and studio films to independent features, branded digital content, and creator-led media.

His horror-world experience includes work connected to Halloween (2018), Cyst, The Blackening, Agonist, Love Is the Monster, and Breeder, the latter of which was acquired by Shudder following its Tribeca premiere. He has also represented and advised a broad range of horror talent and businesses, including R.L. Stine, Spooky Pictures' Steven Schneider, actors and filmmakers working in genre, horror podcasters, and independent brands such as Small Town Weirdo.

As an attorney, Joshua helps artists, filmmakers, writers, actors, producers, and creators navigate rights acquisition, intellectual property, talent and production agreements, distribution questions, backend participation, and the often-complicated ownership of creative work. He brings a rare perspective to horror: equal parts fan, industry insider, and legal strategist.

Joshua has been named a Variety Hollywood Deal Maker and is an adjunct lecturer in Entertainment Business Law at The Los Angeles Film School. Learn more at Lastine Entertainment Law or follow Joshua on LinkedIn and Instagram.
